Safeguarding Children

Here at Supply Book we have a strict Safeguarding Policy and are committed to the welfare of children and young people. In practice what does this mean?? This means NO staff are ever sent out to work without being cleared through our clearance vetting team.

The requirements that are set out in the Dfe Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education Document are fully incorporated in Supply Book’s Clearance recruitment policy.

This includes the following vetting procedures :

  • A face to face registration interview with every single applicant
  • Identity checks  in line with the Dfe regulations
  • Proof of Qualifications/Teaching Agency Checks
  • Enhanced DBS* check
  • Overseas Police check (if applicable)
  • List 99 check / ISA Children’s List check
  • Confirmation of eligibility to work in the UK
  • A minimum of 2 references
  • Medical Check – confirmation that each candidate is medically fit to work in an education setting
  • Full employment history check – including covering any gaps or discrepancies
  • Proof of National Insurance Number
  • *Previously known as the CRB- Criminal Records Bureau – Now known as Disclosure Barring Service or DBS.

During the registration process all candidates are fully interviewed to ensure suitability to work with children and young people. During this interview process each and every candidate is given the Supply Book Code of Conduct which incorporates our expectations as an agency. It is also an essential part of registration that they sign our Child Protection Policy. We also have a strict school behaviour management policy and all candidates are asked to adhere to this at all time.

We have a full disciplinary and complaints procedure that will be followed should an allegation be made or an issue arise whilst one of our staff are at your nursery, school or college.
